Lip Sync has been tough this year. We have changed our idea once again, and have hit crunch time. We now have to get it all together by next Friday! We are no longer doing the Olympics. We need some props for our new idea. Each student that is performing will need the following items, a bathrobe, slippers, and possibly goggles. I know they sound like an odd combination, but it will all make sense when you see it on video, next Friday. If you would let your kiddo bring these (and extras if possible), to school, that'd be a huge help! We also need a giant blue tarp (or two smaller ones) if anyone has some we could borrow! Kids also thought rubber duckies would be a good idea- feel free to send those in as well! Below are pictures of kids practicing! I'm excited to show you the finished result next week! We spent our week during TA changing our minds about our Lip Sync theme. We heard that another 8th grade TA was also doing a beach theme, and we didn't want to have something too similar. So, we have gone to an Olympic theme, and are using an old Jock Jams song to tie our theme together. We are still in planning stages, however we already know of some things that we will need. First- all kids will need to be dressed on that day (Fri, Feb 23rd), in red/white/blue attire. If anyone has any extra USA themed type clothing/jerseys/hats etc lying around, they would be greatly appreciated for our show. As far as other props, we also know that we will need an American flag on a pole, that we can wave around (imagine the USA Olympic team walking into opening ceremony with the flag). Another thing we will need is some sporting equipment. Ask your student what they need for sporting equipment, because it does vary by kiddo. Lastly, we are going to need a fair amount of swim caps, and goggles. We also need a very large blue tarp. The tarp would only be used as a prop, not stepped on, just carried. Lastly- we need a large piece of cardboard (refrigerator box/appliance size). I don't want to give away the idea too much, but if you have anything you'd be willing to let us borrow, we'd be thrilled! Unrelated to our lip sync, I wanted to share with parents that next week I will be out for some time. My daughter is having her tonsils and adenoids removed. My original plan was to be out on Monday/Tuesday, but due to a change in schedule, I may be here on Monday and then out Tues/Wed. Unfortunately the timeline is still unclear. I'm letting all of you know because I communicate regularly with many of you via email (sickness, planned absences, homework club etc). If you need to get ahold of me, please still feel free to email me. I will be checking email regularly and I am in constant communication with my team. If there is something that needs to change immediately (early dismissal, a bus change, etc) please call the office and have them patch you through to the substitute. The phone number is 476-6617 ext. 5234. In other news our kids visited The Gallery at Barre Town, today. It is a new art gallery space in our middle school. Ms. Leeds and Mr. Pope use this space to showcase student artwork. The newest installment of art is quite amazing, and brought to us by the second graders. We were reading "under the sea" today! Below are some of the pics we took there! |
