Mrs. VanOrman's TA, for their giant Fireplace!During the last couple of weeks before our holiday vacation the middle school students participated in a door/hallway decorating contest. Students needed to come up with a decoration idea that fell under the theme "winter." Jordyn B. came up with the idea to create a giant fireplace. She didn't even want to share the plan with her classmates, but when she did, they ran with it, and the designing began immediately!
The class worked so well together! They designed and created all aspects of this beautiful door decoration! I got to see so many different sides of the kiddos. Some jumped into leadership roles, becoming job foremen, assigning duties and giving suggestions, while others became the artistic graphic designers, figuring out how to create realistic looking bricks and fire. They completely deserved the first place votes! Each student had some part in the design, whether they taped up the black background paper, created a Christmas tree, drew brick outlines, or their very own stocking, it was definitely a team effort! They won first place and it was a well deserved prize! We look forward to doing it again next year!

Can you guess what we are making? Students in the middle school are participating in a door decorating contest! All of the doors must be decorated in a winter theme, can you guess where we are going with ours? Check back in to see the results!
Wow, I am thoroughly impressed. Our students for the past two weeks, prepped and set up our fundraiser. They created posters, visited classes to advertise and then became retailers, selling pencils, gifts, and flowers all week! With the generous donation of carnations we were able to raise enough money for Mrs. Allen's TA and our TA to fully outfit a family for winter! Because of the hard work of your students and some very generous donations, the family of four children that we adopted for the holidays will have a very magical Christmas. All of the four children received warm winter coats, and other winter gear (boots, snow-pants, hats & mittens). The also received one or two outfits, and at least two presents from the "toy list!" What a success! They were very proud of the work they did, and they were happy to help a family in need! Way to go guys! Thank you to all of the parents that donated pencils, money, gifts, boots, and flowers to our sale. Without all of the generous donations, we would not have been as successful as we were. What a way to spread holiday cheer! |
