Wow... I have a confession to make- my last Blog post was February. How did that happen!? Where did the year go? I feel like I just posted about Wake-Up Wednesday, but that was 4 months ago!
So... What has happened in these very fast flying months? We have participated in a pep rally, a wonderful spring carnival, the Drew Strong event, vacations, team building activities, and our culminating event, our Northern Lights field trip! On top of all these fun extra curricular events, we wrote two essays, read one of three Katherine Paterson novels, and took the SBAC exams in both ELA and math! Perhaps the previous list of amazing things we have accomplished in the last four months, is the reason I haven't posted recently. We have just been so busy! When I look back and reflect on the year, I have seen a lot of amazing things from these students. I have seen frustrations, I have seen tears. But through it all I have seen students learning to stand up for one another. I have seen students learn and practice empathy, kindness, and compassion for others. I have seen hard work and effort put into challenging assignments that pushed students to their limits. I have seen students overcome fears and obstacles they thought they couldn't even attempt to try. I have seen this group mature and grow so much, together. They are not the same kiddos that walked through my door in August of 2014! I'm thoroughly impressed with all of your children, and I hope they have learned as much in 6th grade as I have learned from them. Please make sure you check out our slideshow that celebrates all of the wonderful things they have accomplished this year. Have a wonderful summer.
