Hello! You will notice that your child's report cards came home today because I will be at a ELA conference tomorrow. Please pay close attention to the comment section of the report card. Students were asked to reflect on their goals they made at the beginning of the year, and were asked what they want to work on for Q3. In the comment section, on top of my own personal comment about your child, there is a quote from your student about how they think they did on meeting their goals. There was some really great reflection and they are setting some awesome goals for quarter three! Please be sure to discuss these goals with your student! Report card envelopes need to be returned by next Wednesday, signed. If your child's report card came home without an envelope, that means I did not get one returned to me in Q1. If you cannot find the envelope, send an email or note into school saying you saw the report card. In other news, students met in small groups this morning, to discuss our lip sync. They are trying to decide what part of the song they would like to participate in, and also what they may have for costume and prop ideas. We decided that we definitely need cardboard as we would like to create a Wayne's World car for a prop. They also want to create band signs. If any of you have access to cardboard, large pieces in particular, could you please consider donating it to our class lip sync? We also are in need of craft paint and duct tape. If you would like to contribute to our performance, please let me know by sending me a quick email. We are very excited for our lip sync battle and it will be the focus of our TA time from here until the performance! If you have any questions about it please let me know.

It took a lot of time and work during our morning TA meetings, but we have finally come to a decision. Our group has decided to do a mash-up of older songs to perform at our lip sync battle. I have reached out to a DJ who is going to create this mash-up for us, and as soon as we get the completed audio file we will start to practice. It has been a blast hearing all of the suggestions, but the images below will tell you the direction we have headed. Make sure you ask your kiddo about it!
In a couple of weeks I'm going to be asking students to look at home for costume ideas! Please don't feel like you need to buy anything- digging through closets and attics is such a better strategy! I will keep everyone posted on what we will need in order to make this lip sync a huge success! Happy New Year! In TA this week we have been focusing on the second annual Lip Sync Battle, that will be taking place the day before our February vacation. For those of you that are new to Barre Town- last year we held our first annual Lip Sync competition. TAs from grades 5-8 picked a song, created costumes, a dance, and learned the lyrics and then performed the song in front of the entire middle school, on stage! We had many adults that were part of the judges panel who scored groups based on choreography, lip syncing, constumes, and participation. The winner took away the "Golden Sap Bucket" trophey! It was so much fun and both students and teachers had a ball. (You can see the link below to see my TA's performance from last year, we tied for 1st place and later lost to Mr. Sanborn in the judges tie breaker!) This week, we have had a ton of fun trying to come up with a fun song or songs to perform to. Students have been suggesting everything from country to classic rock, all the way to current hits like Moves like Jagger. We have not come up with a song yet, nor have we decided if we will be doing a mash up of songs or just one. But, their enthusiasm for this event makes me think it will be a ton of fun. This is a project we will be working on until the event in February. I'm sure they have come home talking about it, because some have come back to school with suggestions of songs from parents! I look forward to sharing the progress of our fun project as we move through it. If you want to send in suggestions- please comment below with any fun, upbeat songs you reccommend! Also- check out my TA's performance from last year, so you can see what goes into this fun event! Have a great weekend. **This link will bring you to an April post from last year- the video is on the bottom of the post!**
