Something our TA has focused on this week is discussing meanness and kindness. It has been brought to my attention that we, as a TA, are starting to have less patience with one another and beginning to be a bit more rude and mean to members of our class. As a whole it seems we just don't have many nice things to say. We talked this week about what we are going to do to make it better. Below are some ideas the students created to help improve our TA community. We will be focusing on the following things for the next few weeks!
*Treat others the way you want to be treated. *Think before you speak or act. (How are my actions going to affect others in the room? How are my actions going to affect me?) *If you see something, say something. If someone you know is being picked on or teased, speak up! You can do this in many ways, you can politely ask someone to stop, or you can help your friend get out of the situation by physically moving away. Lastly, you can tell an adult, if the adults don't know it's happening we can't help! *Be kind. (Being kind doesn't mean you are best friends with everyone, it means you are polite and show respect to everyone.) Please feel free to have a discussion at home about the importance of being kind. We will continue to work on these skills and to practice them at school. Practicing them at home is very helpful to the work we do here. I look forward to seeing the change in our TA. If you have questions or concerns about this topic, please reach out to me directly via email or phone.
