We are again at another Friday. I don't know how this is happening but we only have two more Fridays together. It makes me so sad to know that I'm not going to have these kids next year. We have so much fun! This week was another busy one. We had a pizza party for lunch time. It was one of the activities that students want to do to celebrate the end of the year. We also decided to create something fun with music and we chose our song- I'm being vague so not to give away anything- You'll have to wait and see what we create! I also got to attend Design Lab where your kids were testing the bridges they created with Mr. Pope. They designed and built bridges and then they tested to see how much weight the bridges would hold. Lastly, today we attended an awesome Memorial Day Ceremony in the courtyard. The chorus and band, again, did an awesome job! It was great to see the whole school community out there honoring our country and our fallen soldiers. Photos from the week are below. Please be sure to check out the announcements too. Announcements-

On Thursday we had lunch outdoors. If you haven't spent time in our school garden, you absolutely must check it out. It was pretty awesome to be able to all fit at the tables inside the garden. The coolest part? First grade PE students were working hard in the garden around us. Some were weeding and others were mulching. It's truly a beautiful part of our campus. We may have to eat lunch outside again next week, if the weather cooperates. Pictures are below! On Friday we had our BBQ and ate lunch outdoors. The Barre Town Firefighters were here serving food and had their trucks and equipment. I don't think you ever get too old to get excited about climbing into a fire truck. The sixth graders had a lot of fun. Pictures are below! Please be sure to read the announcements below! Announcements:
I find this time of year to be tough. Kids are so excited about the coming summer and teachers know that there is still SO MUCH to get through before the end. It's a reality that it's difficult, especially in Vermont, to focus on sunny. warm days, when we haven't had them in so long. Finding common ground in May is so challenging. We've had to talk a lot this week about meeting expectations and making sure we are still in "school mode." We still have assessments to take, essays to write, and projects to finish. Things are definitely not lightening up! On a positive note, we have been talking about some things that we'd like to do together during our TA time to celebrate our awesome group. Some of the ideas they came up with are below: Lunch in the Garden Rummy Tourney Outdoor Activity Pizza Party/ Lunch Class Music Video You may be hearing of these small celebrations happening throughout this final month. It's always fun to celebrate all we have accomplished as a group! We have come a long way. Last thing- Yesterday I had the privilege of joining the kids in PE. It was awesome! The kids were great, the told me I had to do my ABC check on my bike (Air, Brakes, Chain) and then we were off. We got to explore our gorgeous bike path and nature trails on two wheels. The kids showed me the "loop" as Mr. Joyal calls it, and it involved to wooded trails and the bike bath. They biked the entire time, watched out for each other, and seemed to really enjoy it. I thoroughly had a good time, it was nice to get out of the classroom and join them in such a fun activity. Biking will continue as long as the weather holds out, and I can't wait to join them again next week! Such a fun time. I'm sure Mr. Joyal wouldn't appreciate that I was using my phone while pedaling, but I did snap a few photos and they are below! Have a great weekend! This week we had a lot going on. My post this week is just going to be pictures! Some of the craziness this week included, two assessments, Walk to School, 5/6 Spring Concert, and 7/8 Spring Concert! We have such wonderful musicians and our TA was well represented in both the chorus and the band. I only had two students in the audience during the concert, the rest were all performing! I will not be here tomorrow so I'm posting today! |
