This week was our first full, uninterrupted week, in a very long time! Between SBACs, lip sync and spring carnival, we haven't had a normal schedule in so long. It felt good to back to the routines we are used to. We are definitely in the final stretch and while it may seem like summer is just around the corner, it's important to remember that all content classes have SO MUCH to still do. There are essays to write, assessments to take, projects to complete, and it's important that we don't lose site of that. Students often think that because summer is coming, things will get easier, when in fact it's actually the OPPOSITE! Keep reminding them that we are in this until the end, and often we will be doing MORE and trying to squeeze in MORE before summer arrives. Thanks for your help in this! Announcements-

I got a couple of photos of our kids enjoying the spring carnival activities! Thought I would share!
On Monday, students were recognized for having zero missing assignments and zero behavior forms for quarter 3. We then recognized our student nominated award, the Positive Teamwork Award. There were four recipients of this award this quarter. Our TA nominated Alex Maurice for his hard work, effort, and kindness. Awesome job, Alex!
I haven't quite figured out how to put into words what I am feeling right now. Every single student in our TA, even those who knew they would be gone today, and those who didn't want to be on stage, participated in some shape or form, with the lip sync. Twenty kids came together as a team and created something AWESOME. I couldn't be more proud. People got over their fears and jitters, got up on stage, and performed something they created, for the entire middle school! They worked so hard on this project and it was an absolute blast to see all of their efforts come together for one great performance. Everyone who had a part in this should be so proud! I got to see students come out of their shells, step into leadership roles, and perform in ways I couldn't have imagined them to. The best part was when they did choose to step out of their comfort zone, and started to take those risks, they became a little bit more confident in their own skin, grew a ton (even if they don't see it), and they did it all together as a group. How amazing is that? What a great experience for them, and for me! I really have nothing else to say other than this. I am so fortunate to work with your kiddos and I. AM. SO. PROUD!!! **Our video is linked below. It is "unlisted" on YouTube, which means that you can only find it on YouTube if you have the link, it will not show up on a feed and/or will not show up in YouTube searches. know it's a day early but I couldn't wait to share what awesome things I've seen happening this week! Next week students will be participating in our first ever Lip Sync Battle. Students in grades 5-8 will be performing songs with their TAs, in front of the entire middle school! We have a very lofty goal of being ready and on point by next Thursday. Today, I finally started to see things coming together and I have no doubt that our performance will be awesome! We are working hard each morning during TA. We use our time to organize, plan, and practice. Each person has a a role that they are comfortable with. Some are creating props, some are creating dances, some are lead dancers/singers, some chose to be a background dance/singer. Whatever the roles and parts, it has been a blast to see these guys come together. They are working hard, practicing together, and different people are stepping into leadership roles. It is just awesome to see and be a part of (I will be dancing too!). I will definitely make sure we have our performance recorded so I can share it all with you! Below are some photos of our practice time today. (Please be sure to also check out other announcements below!) Announcements:
We got to see the play, "The Big Bad," performed by our middle school drama club today. It was fantastic! Our very own Emily was in the play, as Snow White. The cast was energetic and talented and presented a great show! If you are not busy, they will be performing again tonight at 6:00 and tomorrow at 1:00. Check it out! We also started to practice our Lip Sync performance. We have quite a long song that we have to fill up with some dance moves. We're hoping that some of our dancers will help us choreograph our routine. Encourage your dancers to step up and make suggestions. We will continue to use TA times to work on our routine. We're hoping to get props, dancing, and lip syncing all together for our performance on April 14th! Reminders
