This will be a quick update- it's been a bit of a crazy week!
1. Your students took an online quiz for the first time in ELA today- they have have already received feedback via a wonderful Google tool, called Flubaroo. If they open their emails tonight, the can see their scores, and how they did. Kids can expect to be taking more of these! (They seemed to enjoy the online format!) 2. Next week is a three day week. Wednesday is a FULL DAY. Please feel free to send in a special snack on Wednesday, we will be having a little celebration. 3. There are no weekly Math or ELA assignments for the short week. 4. Last week when I sent out the blog update I was using my phone and couldn't access all of my contacts, so it didn't go to everyone, please check out last week's update.

I feel like this year is flying by! How is it Friday already? How is it that vacation is only 8 school days away? It's insane! This week we finished the gathering/purchasing of presents for our two sponsored family. Thanks to many donations and the hard work during the change drive, we were able to help two families and Mrs. Allen's TA was able to help a larger family. Between the two TAs, we helped 8 Barre Town children. How amazing is that? Not only will our TAs four sponsored kiddos get some special toys and gifts on Christmas, but they will be warm, with boots, coats, snow pants, gloves and hats! Thanks to everyone that sent change and items in, it was such a team effort. On Wednesday/Thursday some elves stayed and helped me bag, tag and deliver all of the items. They were so excited to help, and they did a great job making sure we had everything. Just as an FYI, students are working on a big project, building earth ships, in science class. Mr. Sanborn has posted all of the expectations/requirements on his website (link found on my contacts page). He encourages students and parents to check it out.
That's all I have for you today- thanks again for all the support during the gift drive. It's truly wonderful to see the generosity of many help those that need it most. Have a great weekend! I feel like this week I have spent more time with your children, than I have all year. I think it's because not only did we have our weekly lunch date on Thursday, but this morning instead of dancing or doing movement, we played board games (I got to play too!) and then we continued the games into our pizza party where some kids even stayed in for recess to play. Let me tell you, I absolutely loved it. Not only did I get to connect with more kids, but I got to see them in a different way than I normally do. Our normal times together involve work, and expectations, a little bit of fun, and more work! But, over the course of the past two days, I got to just enjoy being with your kids in a non-educational setting. Here are some things I learned about them: 1. They handle unstructured play time very well. Our room was calm, quiet, and relaxing. Several teachers walked in and said "Wow! This is so nice." I really love learning about them, and I'm truly enjoying them as individuals as well as a whole group. They are positive, and kind, and I'm super proud to call them my kids. I hope you share this post with your children. I hope you also enjoy the pictures below (excuse the blurriness) and have a great weekend. |
