How lucky are we?! A cart with 24 laptops has just arrived in the sixth grade. It is currently being housed in my room, and we have full access to it, whenever we want! This not only changes the way that our classroom will run, it completely changes the way I teach and deliver information to students. For example, in the past, to practice inferring, students have read short passages and made educated guesses based on what they have read in the text. This year, to incorporate some common core standards, students are watching a short film (multi-media source), and making inferences based on what they see. When they write about their educated guesses, they have to provide evidence from the film to prove their thinking. Students have been able to do this completely digitally and independently! Each student is able to watch the movie, and stop/pause/replay whenever they need, at their own pace, in order to answer the questions and make the inferences. Students have been very excited to give them a test run. Make sure you watch the full slideshow in this post. You can truly see their excitement! Again, I repeat, How lucky are we!?

I saw me! I look like I'm not interested though. Even though I know I was laughing pretty hard!
