Yesterday marked about two weeks (not including vacation) since our two week focus on kindness. I wanted to check in to see how kids thought we were doing as a group. Overall kids said that they noticed our group has improved with kindness, but it's still not perfect. They said the "big stuff/drama" has died down quite a bit, but the "little stuff" is still pretty common in our classroom. Here's what we identified as little stuff:
*Dirty or mean looks *Eye Rolling *Snide comments under breath We then discussed how body language can send a pretty mean message without any words at all. We talked about how often times we don't even realize what our body language looks like. We discussed how it's important to be aware of the message we are sending, and to really focus on sending a positive message and not a negative one. With this I promised students that I would be doing my best to call students on their body language, so they realize they are doing it. This hopefully will help students realize what they are doing, and then hopefully start to change their behavior. We will be focusing on positive body language throughout next week. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this. **In other, unrelated news. There are still some field trip permission forms and money that I don't have. Please send those in. **I'm still missing report cards too, please send them in ASAP so we can go over point sheets here at school.
