Wow! I'm not sure if you've been told but, we have raised an amazing amount of money from our coin drive! We have collected money from 16 different TAs in the middle school! We have filled a giant coffee can, two Costco size Nesquick containers, a Tide container, and a piggy bank, all with people's spare coins (and even some dollars!). We have been counting coins all week and our current total raised is ... How amazing is that? The kids are thrilled about this fundraiser and have been awesome about collecting and counting the money, and advertising our cause! We will be collecting money next week, as well. I will also have more information about the family we will be sponsoring next week. In Other News...This week students requested we make it a weekly occurrence to have lunch in the classroom. So, on Thursday we started our first luncheons in our room. On Thursdays each week, students have the option to eat in the classroom. This week we had about 15 kids in the classroom. It was fun and relaxing. Students ate, chatted, and there was an epic game of Battleship held.
Also, today we met again with our kindergarten buddies. This week students brought down 1-2 books they chose from the library. They read to their buddies and then the kindergartners read from books they know. The sixth graders really look forward to visiting kindergarten. It's great to see how awesome our sixth graders are as positive role models! With Thanksgiving break coming up, there is no weekly ELA assignment and no math computation this week! Have a great weekend.
