I hope that your child came home excited to tell you what they did all day long. It was a fun, exciting, and challenging day, full of activities that pushed us to frustration and tested our patience. Some of the skills we worked on today were: *Communication *Teamwork *Respect *Perseverance And many many more. I would be lying if I said that every aspect of the day was all fun, smiles, and laughter. There were moments in everyone's day when they were frustrated, upset, or needed to walk a way for a minute. There were moments that they were proud, excited, and happy. There was a lot of success and there were definitely failures. So you may be asking, why do we do something that pushes kids to the point of frustration. Why do we want them doing activities that will make them upset? We do this so they will learn. They will work on their grit. They will persevere. They will work through a problem and try to find a solution. It challenges their brain and their will to work. It makes them better teammates, classmates, and members of our collective community. We hope that they will learn from these failures, these successes, and carry them over into our daily activities, classwork, and routines. Today I was proud of the students. They worked hard, listened to each other and found a lot of success using their teamwork skills. They should be proud of their hard work. I hope that even though they did feel frustrated and upset at times, that they learned from it, and they are ready to continue our work on these very important life skills! Please enjoy the very LONG slideshow that showcases photos from throughout the day.
